Some black dresses disappear the moment you take your coat off; this one doesn't need anything added to it. The velvet catches the light under any restaurant bulb, and a row of pearls at the collar does the dressing-up for you, so you're not stood at the bus stop in something that only really works indoors.
- Pearl-trimmed round collar. A single row of beaded pearls finishes the neckline; nothing else on the dress competes with it.
- Contrast ivory cuffs. Wide cuffs in a lighter fabric close with a pearl button, breaking up the black at the wrist.
- Fitted waist, A-line skirt. Nipped in through the waist, then falls into a full skirt that moves rather than clings.
- Concealed back zip. Fastens invisibly at the centre back, no visible hardware at the neckline.

100% polyester velvet, with a satin-feel lining through the skirt. Follow the care label.
Worth knowing
The skirt falls below the knee with room to walk and sit easily, and the fitted bodice means it reads as tailored rather than loose. The pearl trim is stitched flat to the collar edge, not a separate necklace.

Is it real velvet, or does it feel cheap?
It's a polyester velvet with a dense, even pile rather than a sheer or stretchy velour, and it keeps its colour well away from direct light.
Will the pearl collar feel heavy or scratchy?
The pearls sit in a single flat row stitched along the collar edge. It's a trim, not a separate necklace, so there's nothing hanging or loose against the skin.
Does it need a slip underneath?
No — the skirt is lined, so nothing shows through. The long sleeves and round collar already cover through to the wrist and neck.
Will it look like the photos?
The colour, fabric and cut you see are what we send. If it turns up damaged or not as described, email us a photo within 30 days and we will replace it or refund you, including postage.
When will it arrive?
Usually 10 to 17 days from order, tracked all the way; your estimated arrival date is shown above. Order several pieces and they can come in separate parcels, each with its own tracking.
What if it doesn't fit, or I change my mind?
You have 30 days from delivery. Send it back unworn, with the tags on and in its original packaging; socks must still be sealed. You pay the return postage, with no returns fee on top.
Will I pay anything on delivery?
No. Prices include UK VAT and there are no customs or import charges to pay.
